GLP-1 Medications: Every US Brand and What It Is

GLP-1 medications list: semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide, dulaglutide and oral pills — brands, approved uses and how they differ. Not medical advice.

Short answer

GLP-1 receptor agonists mimic the gut hormone GLP-1 to raise insulin when glucose is high, slow stomach emptying and reduce appetite. US-approved options: semaglutide — Ozempic (type 2 diabetes injection), Wegovy (weight management injection), Rybelsus (diabetes tablet) and the Wegovy pill (weight management tablet); tirzepatide, a GLP-1/GIP dual agonist — Mounjaro (diabetes) and Zepbound (weight management); liraglutide — Victoza (diabetes) and Saxenda (weight management), daily injections with generics available; dulaglutide — Trulicity (diabetes); and orforglipron — Foundayo, a non-peptide daily pill for weight management approved in 2026. Pipeline drugs such as retatrutide, CagriSema, MariTide and survodutide are not approved. A prescriber decides which, if any, fits. Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.

How they differ

Molecule: semaglutide, liraglutide and dulaglutide act only on the GLP-1 receptor; tirzepatide also acts on GIP, and in head-to-head trials produced more weight loss than semaglutide (Mounjaro vs Ozempic). Frequency: daily (liraglutide, oral pills) or weekly (most injections). Label: the same molecule is often sold under two brands, one for diabetes and one for weight management, at different strengths (Wegovy vs Ozempic).

Not approved

Retatrutide, CagriSema, MariTide, survodutide and other pipeline drugs are investigational. "Research" vials of these or of approved molecules are not FDA-approved products, and their contents are unverified. See retatrutide vs tirzepatide for the trial picture.

Side effects across the class

Gastrointestinal effects dominate for every brand. Shared label warnings include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, dehydration-related kidney injury and thyroid C-cell tumours in rodents. See GLP-1 side effects.

What users report here

Anonymous accounts are collected on the semaglutide, tirzepatide and liraglutide hubs. #686 (semaglutide) describes less joint inflammation early on; #43 describes hair thinning. Personal stories, not evidence of effect. In Canada the brand list differs: see GLP-1 medications in Canada.
