Foundayo vs Zepbound: Daily Pill vs Weekly Injection

Foundayo vs Zepbound: orforglipron pill vs tirzepatide injection — mechanism, trial weight-loss themes and side effects. Not medical advice.

Short answer

Zepbound is tirzepatide, a weekly injectable GLP-1/GIP dual agonist. Foundayo is orforglipron, a once-daily non-peptide pill that activates GLP-1 only and has no food or water timing rules. In separate 72-week trials analysed the same way (all randomised participants, regardless of stopping), average weight loss at the highest dose was 20.9% with tirzepatide in SURMOUNT-1 (placebo 3.1%) and 11.2% with orforglipron in ATTAIN-1 (placebo 2.1%). Different trials and populations, not a head-to-head result. Both share GLP-1-class GI side effects. Choice depends on preference for a pill vs injection, tolerability, coverage and a prescriber's judgement. Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.

Who might lean which way

Trials suggest more average weight loss with Zepbound, while Foundayo avoids injections and the fasting routine of the Wegovy pill. Coverage, side-effect tolerance and personal preference all matter; the choice is a prescriber's with the patient. See Foundayo and Zepbound side effects.

Community Q&A

Is Foundayo a peptide?
No. Orforglipron is a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist, which is why it can be taken as a pill without fasting rules.
Is Foundayo as effective as Zepbound?
Separate trials showed lower average weight loss for orforglipron than tirzepatide. No direct head-to-head has been published.
Can you switch from Zepbound to Foundayo?
That is a prescriber decision. Lilly has studied maintenance after injectable therapy, but this page does not advise switching.
Does this page give dosing advice?
Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.
