"Ozempic Butt": Volume Loss After Rapid Weight Loss

Ozempic butt explained: sagging or flattening from fast fat and muscle loss on GLP-1 drugs, not a drug-specific effect. User reports. Not medical advice.

Short answer

"Ozempic butt" is a media term, not a medical diagnosis. It describes flattening or loose skin in the buttocks after rapid weight loss on semaglutide or tirzepatide. As with "Ozempic face", the cause is loss of fat (and some muscle) volume plus skin that has not yet adapted — the same changes seen after any large, fast weight loss, not a direct drug effect. Resistance training and adequate protein are commonly discussed to preserve muscle. Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.

Why rapid weight loss changes body shape

In GLP-1 trials that measured body composition, roughly a quarter to two-fifths of the weight lost was lean mass, the rest fat. When large amounts go quickly, the buttocks, face and arms can lose volume faster than skin contracts, especially after 40 and after big losses. Muscle in the glutes also shrinks if it is not loaded. None of this is unique to semaglutide; the same changes follow bariatric surgery. See Ozempic face and Ozempic muscle loss. Last reviewed October 15, 2026.

FactorEffect on the change
Amount of weight lostBigger losses mean more visible volume change
Speed of lossFaster loss gives skin less time to adapt
Age and sun damageLess elastic skin retracts less
Strength trainingHelps preserve glute muscle
Protein intakeLow intake may increase muscle loss

What can and cannot change

Muscle responds to progressive resistance training at any age, so shape tied to glute muscle can partly recover. Loose skin after very large losses may not fully retract. This page does not cover cosmetic procedures or prices; a board-certified clinician can discuss options.

What confessions say

#352 asks when there will be a peptide for loose skin after GLP-1 weight loss; none has evidence for that. Other writers describe preserving muscle through gym work while losing weight.

What users report here

Anonymous accounts are collected on the Semaglutide reports. They are personal stories, often with other compounds in the mix, not evidence of effect.

Community Q&A

Does Mounjaro cause Ozempic butt too?
Yes, the term is used for any fast GLP-1 weight loss, including tirzepatide. It reflects volume loss, not a specific drug effect.
How can you prevent Ozempic butt?
Commonly discussed measures are resistance training for the glutes, adequate protein and avoiding very rapid loss, under clinical guidance.
Does Ozempic cause Ozempic butt?
Indirectly: it describes appearance changes from rapid weight loss rather than a drug side effect.
Can Ozempic butt be reversed?
Muscle can be rebuilt with training; loose skin varies by age and amount of weight lost.
Does this page give dosing advice?
Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.
