Sermorelin (Sermorelin Acetate) Benefits: What Is Proven
Sermorelin acetate benefits: what studies show for growth hormone, sleep and body composition, what users claim, and the limits. Not medical advice.

Short answer
Sermorelin acetate reliably raises the body's own growth hormone and IGF-1 in people with a working pituitary; that is what it was approved for in children (Geref, withdrawn 2008). Small adult studies report modest changes in lean mass, skin thickness and sense of wellbeing, but trials are small, short and old. Claims for fat loss, anti-aging, sleep and libido rest mainly on anecdote. Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.
| Claimed benefit | Evidence |
|---|---|
| Raises GH / IGF-1 | Established (that is its mechanism) |
| Children's growth (GH deficiency) | Was FDA-approved for this |
| Lean mass, skin in older adults | Small, short studies; modest |
| Sleep, fat loss, anti-aging, libido | Mostly anecdotal |
Sermorelin vs growth hormone
Sermorelin prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone in its natural pulses, with the body's feedback limits still working. Injected growth hormone (somatropin) bypasses those limits. That makes sermorelin's effect smaller and dependent on a working pituitary, and its typical GH-type side effects milder. Growth hormone has far more trial data for proven deficiency. What a prescriber would usually check
Clinicians typically look at IGF-1 before and during treatment, along with blood sugar, thyroid function and, depending on age, cancer screening, since GH and IGF-1 can affect each of these. A normal IGF-1 for age makes a meaningful benefit less likely. Compounded sermorelin varies by pharmacy.
Realistic expectations
The best-supported adult effect is a rise in IGF-1. Any change in body composition is likely to be small without training and diet, and sermorelin is not a weight-loss drug (sermorelin for weight loss). Better sleep is a common claim with little trial support. Tested athletes should note WADA prohibits GH-releasing factors.
What users report
#119 credits it for sleep inside a three-compound stack; #685 is four months in and describes the routine rather than a result; #571 noticed nothing from it; #204 is a first injection. None describes a measured strength or muscle change. A handful of stories is not a benefit rate. See sermorelin before and after for the study timeline, and weigh them against the side effects.

Community Q&A
- Is sermorelin better than HGH?
- It is milder and works through your own pituitary. HGH has stronger evidence for proven deficiency; sermorelin's adult benefits are modest and less studied.
- Does sermorelin help sleep?
- Users often claim it, but trial evidence for sleep benefits is limited.
- What are the benefits of sermorelin?
- It raises your own growth hormone and IGF-1. Benefits beyond that — body composition, sleep, skin — have only small or anecdotal support.
- Is sermorelin acetate the same as sermorelin?
- Yes. Sermorelin acetate is the salt form used in medicines and compounded products.
- How long until sermorelin works?
- Users here describe changes over weeks to months, but expectations should be modest. A prescriber can check IGF-1 to see if it is having any effect.
- Does Peptide Confessions give dosing?
- Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.
