5-Amino-1MQ: NNMT Claims and a Thin Archive
5-Amino-1MQ explained: NNMT-inhibition and metabolic claims versus a thin anonymous confession file. Not a peptide. Not medical advice.

Short answer
5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule NNMT inhibitor discussed in metabolic forums — not a peptide. Human outcome evidence and this site's confession file are both limited. Hub: 5-Amino-1MQ. Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.
What 5-Amino-1MQ is supposed to do
It blocks NNMT (nicotinamide N-methyltransferase), an enzyme that is more active in fat tissue in obesity. NNMT uses up methyl groups and a form of vitamin B3 (nicotinamide), so blocking it is proposed to raise cellular NAD+ and SAM and shift fat cells toward burning energy. That is the theory behind its marketing for fat loss and muscle ageing. Related: NAD+ benefits.
The evidence
Last reviewed October 15, 2026.
| Study type | Finding | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Diet-induced obese mice (2018) | Lower body weight and fat mass, smaller fat cells, without lower food intake | Mice only; short study |
| Aged mice (2019) | Improved muscle stem-cell activity and muscle regeneration after injury | Mice only |
| Humans | No published controlled trials | Safety, dose and long-term effects unknown |
Legal and quality status
5-Amino-1MQ is not an approved drug or a recognised dietary ingredient. It is sold as a research chemical, sometimes as capsules. Contents and purity are not verified; see peptide testing.
What users report
It appears in the archive only as one item in long stacks (for example #409, which lists more than ten compounds), so no effect can be attributed to it. Hub. Compare better-studied options in peptides for weight loss.

Community Q&A
- What is 5-Amino-1MQ?
- A small-molecule NNMT inhibitor studied in mice for fat loss and muscle ageing. It has no published human trials.
- Does 5-Amino-1MQ work for fat loss?
- It reduced fat mass in obese mice. Whether it does anything in people is unknown.
- What are 5-Amino-1MQ side effects?
- Unknown in humans; there are no controlled human safety data.
- Is 5-Amino-1MQ a peptide?
- No. It is a small molecule that appears in peptide communities because of metabolic stacking culture.
- Does this page give dosing advice?
- Peptide Confessions does not publish dosing, timing, injection or sourcing guidance.
