Sermorelin in Canada: the legal status and user reports.
Sermorelin shows up often in Canadian peptide searches, usually next to shop listings. This page is non-commercial: what Health Canada says, what the science does and doesn't show, and what anonymous users report.
Health Canada's position
Injectable peptides are generally regulated as prescription drugs and must be authorized before sale. Sermorelin has no authorization and no DIN in the Drug Product Database. Health Canada's April 2026 advisory warns that unauthorized peptides bought online can be contaminated, mislabelled or the wrong strength. More:are peptides legal in Canada?
What the evidence says
Sermorelin is a GHRH analogue historically used under prescription in some countries; it is not an authorized drug with a DIN for sale in Canada today. Evidence for anti-aging or body-composition claims in healthy adults is limited.

Sermorelin vs other GH-releasing options
| Compound | Type | Canada | Human evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sermorelin | GHRH analogue (first 29 amino acids) | Not marketed as an authorized product | Older studies in GH-deficient children; little modern data |
| Tesamorelin (Egrifta) | GHRH analogue | Authorized for HIV-associated abdominal fat | Trials in that population |
| CJC-1295 | Long-acting GHRH analogue | Unauthorized | Small early studies only |
| Somatropin | Growth hormone | Prescription for deficiency | Strong for approved uses |
Sermorelin was approved in the US decades ago and later withdrawn by its maker for commercial reasons. Products sold online now are research or compounded versions. Reported effects include flushing, headache and injection-site reactions; long-term effects of raising GH in healthy adults are unknown. See Health Canada advisory.

Frequently asked questions
- Is sermorelin the same as HGH?
- No. Sermorelin prompts the pituitary to release growth hormone; HGH (somatropin) is the hormone itself.
- Is tesamorelin available in Canada?
- Egrifta (tesamorelin) is authorized for reducing excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV.
- Is Sermorelin legal in Canada?
- Sermorelin is not authorized by Health Canada for any use, so it cannot legally be sold for human use in Canada. Health Canada has warned that 'research use only' labels do not exempt a product.
- Can a Canadian doctor prescribe Sermorelin?
- There is no authorized Sermorelin product with a DIN in Canada. Ask a licensed healthcare professional about approved options for your situation.
- Is Sermorelin approved as a medicine?
- No major regulator has approved it as a medicine for the uses marketed online. Most evidence is preclinical or anecdotal.
- Does this page say where to buy or how to dose?
- No. We do not publish sourcing, vendors, prices or dosing. We remove those from submissions.
